30 Days of Prayer Booklets

We believe in the power of prayer.  It is the starting point and common thread that we believe is required to identify, address, and overcome any issue of injustice.  It empowers and motivates us to act.  Upon acting it sustains our faith in the work we set our hand to do.  And it also connects us to the heart of God who engages the world with compassion and intervening acts of redemption.

In 2004, Andrew Kooman, president of Raise Their Voice, met Paul and Susi Childers of photogenX in Singapore at an international conference.  The focus of the conference was on how justice issues, faith, and creativity can come together and have synergy.  The Childers were launching what is now their global ministry to address justice issues.  Little did we know that because of that connection – and the writing work that resulted – Raise Their Voice would be born a few years later when the booklets were first released.

30 Days of Prayer for the Voiceless was the first publication to which Raise Their Voice contributed.  The need to share the book and talk about these vital issues of injustice revealed the need for a platform like RTV to exist in the first place. It also helped foster and continue conversations with people in Red Deer and beyond.

For this reason, the booklets have a special place in our hearts.  Beyond the personal history, it is a very good resource become acquainted with global issues of gender-based injustice such as trafficking of women and children, female genital mutilation, forced prostitution, and others.

In 2006 100,000 booklets were distributed around the world. The goal was to see 100,000 people pray  about these issues for 5 minutes a day for 30 days, the equivalent of 28.5 years worth of prayer to bring change!

We want to champion women and children all over the world. We also want to name injustice and put a stop to it.  We do it by raising our voices in prayer.  It’s a start.
