$10,000 raised at Second Cup

by RTV site on November 27, 2007

It was an exciting night!

Hundreds of people came for coffee, some good tunes, and to donate money towards a house that is being built for boys forced into prostitution in Thailand.

And Raise Their Voice was a part of it, selling it’s remaining copies of booklets in Red Deer (more are on the way) and donating all the proceeds to the cause. Through sales of the booklets, coffee, hug pins from absolute.org, and a silent auction $8000 was raised. The remaining $2000 was donated by a mystery philanthropist who committed to give whatever remained to reach the goal of $10,000.

If you have a chance, go and thank Andrea and Ross, owners of the Second Cup in Red Deer for donating their store and ALL sales in coffee that went through the till after 5 PM. It’s amazing to see generous people at work.
